What a document hold should include before forensic review
A practical checklist for preserving ledgers, bank statements, and vouchers before Appnet Bridge begins forensic transaction review.
A forensic transaction review is only as strong as the documents that existed when suspicion first arose. If staff regenerate invoices or re-export ledgers with “corrections,” the trail becomes argumentative rather than evidential.
Core set
Ask the coordinator to freeze, on a named date:
- General ledger detail for the period (or equivalent journal export)
- Trial balances at period start and end
- Bank statements for every account in scope, including PDF originals where possible
- Vendor and customer master extracts
- Access logs showing who could post journals
Secondary but valuable
Board minutes mentioning related parties, email approvals for large transfers, and warehouse receiving notes tied to large inventory purchases.
What not to do
Do not ask the bookkeeper to “fix obvious errors” before handing files over. Record errors as they stand; corrections belong in a separate, dated journal after the hold.
If you are preparing to instruct us, note the hold date in your enquiry so we can reference it in the engagement letter.
